L.E. Smith Jewelers & Gifts in Collinsville, IL had humble beginnings. When we started our company in the early 1960s, we operated out of the back of a station wagon. Back then, our founder, Mr. Leland Smith sold household gadgets to people who would come up to him. Wanting to operate from a better, more convenient location, he eventually asked the owners of Grandpa’s if he could have a small spot by the front door. When they granted his request, Leland’s shop became Grandpa’s Jewelry.

We operated under that name until January 2000. During that time, Grandpa’s was sold to Value City, which had their own jewelry department. That is why we decided to establish our own stand-alone store. At first, we opened three shops under the name L.E. Smith Jewelers. As the years passed, our founder who is in his 80s decided to close two of our stores. This way, we can focus on one jewelry shop and provide the best possible service to our customers.
